Harmonizing Anthems

Hi there!  This week’s homework is a little tricky…but hopefully somewhat challenging and fun for you.  How many national anthems do you know how to play on the piano?  We took an impromptu poll today…so if you have a chance, please check it out over on our social media pages.  For homework, see if you can play chords to keywords from Oh, Say Can You See.  The keywords are rockets’–bursting–proof–night.  It’s all supposed to be fun (laughter) as you give yourself a little summer tonal harmony exercise (applause) (cheers).  There is extra homework (homework sound) too, if you dare!  See the assignment below…

Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod…

How would you go about harmonizing these words…we’ll talk about that in our upcoming episode for a part 2 presentation on harmonizing national anthems on the piano.  It’s all about the “Chords for All” series…on CMajor Before The Show and The CMajor Radio Show.  See you all soon!  Thank you for listening.
