Oh, hello! Nice to see you again. I’ve been thinking about the biggest thing that happened this week in my online studio. It seems to be “Christmas Tunes”. It’s a huge topic in my classes this past week. What will my students play for Christmas? Also, there are some students who are opting-out for holiday tunes altogether. So far the top Christmas song runners are:
- Deck the Hall(s)
- We Wish You a Merry Christmas
- Jingle Bells
- Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
- Jolly Old Saint Nicholas
We’ll stick with a top five list for now. And, last year as I recall, there was a student aiming to learn 20 Christmas tunes as a holiday goal for piano lessons. He stopped at 17 I think before he chose to take a little break from piano. And, just FYI–in the New York area it was announced there will be no Santa Claus this year at Macy’s. Santa is skipping Macy’s for the first time in almost 160 years…in NYC, 34th st. I think in other areas there may be some virtual engagement for “Ho Ho No!”.

Either way, the time is here for students who want to play some holiday tunes. And, maybe each time they learn a ‘carol’, we’ll figure out a prize or something. Some of my other students love video games and Harry Potter. That’s the thing with being remote with music learning, the stickers…are missing. We’ve tried virtual stickers, but it’s just not the same due to the coronavirus and creating a safe environment during a pandemic.
Anyway, I’ll see you all again next week. I should have some updates on CMajor’s Cafe coming soon. It’s a fun virtual cafe that exists online to engage coffee culture. And, I encourage you in the meantime to see my posts on IGTV and other social media about becoming “greener” with CMajor. See you soon!
Thank you for reading, watching and listening.
Peace, Love & Latte – C.
