Musical Macchiatos!–What do you mean by that, CMajor? I just mean that macchiatos can be music to your mouth. Or maybe you can find a certain kind of music to listen to ‘whilst’ drinking a macchiato. I did look it up and recently came across some ‘macchiato music’ on YouTube. That music was interesting. I guess I have in mind something that will cause you to hum a tune when you drink it because it tastes sooooo good!
Consider these three macchiato types the next time you’re out (in the pandemic) trying to find a coffee culture experience:
- Caramel Macchiato – a drink with a vanilla syrup base, steamed milk, shots of espresso on the top, topped with caramel drizzle
- Latte Macchiato – a drink with no sugar added, steamed milk, shots of espresso on top with usually an extra shot built in to be poured on top of the milk
- Espresso Macchiato – espresso shots with scoops of foam (real EM drinkers don’t want milk, only foam, and usually specify the scoops of foam as well as the number of shots
I truly love coffee culture. Now if your barista does your drink right, it’ll leave you singing or humming a tune. Macchiatos, in my opinion, are meant to be enjoyed in layers…kind of like movements or sections of a musical piece.
Anyway, I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. Mine was good, minus a macchiato this year, but filled with delicious turkey and sides provided by one of my grateful piano families. And, I was very thankful for the meal.
